Apple Lost It Again

About a mont ago an Apple engineer lost a prototype of their new upcoming highly secret iPhone at a local bar. A college student found it and when no one claimed the phone took it with him, but soon after removing its protective case and realizing it was no ordinary iPhone he sold it to electronic blog site Gizmodo.com. He made $5,000 from the sell and Gizmodo got to give the breaking news of what the future phone looks like and would possibly do. The legitimacy of the phone was confirmed when Apple’s lawyer send a letter requesting the missing prototype. Since then Apple has launched a lawsuit against the site and student, claiming that by law they were to return the missing phone because it was clear who it belonged to (Apple).

But Wait!! Another iPhone prototype has been found. This time it was found by a Vietnamese website. It looks more polished and finished the first one found. Now this makes me wonder if Apple is purposely loosing these prototypes to built up hype. I understand loosing one phone, but another one I just do not understand because Apple is very secretive and protective of their unreleased products. Either way, good or bad publicity is always good. Here is the vietnamese video of the iPhone prototype found.

Recently rumors have been flying around the web that Jay-Z and Dr.Dre have hit the studio to work on the doctor’s long anticipated album; Detox. Rumors began when E! News correspondent tweet’d about the collaboration. Soon 50 Cent’s website “ThisIs50.com” posted a picture of the two artist posing in the studio. Whether the rumors are true is anybody’s guess. Dr.Dre’s album has been 11 years in the making and would be his follow up to his last album titled “2001″. This collaboration can also be for Jay-Z’s next album which he mention he has begun to work on. The best way to find out the truth is to simply wait and anticipate more.

“Your Ad Here…On This School Bus”

Imagine driving down the street; you see people, cars, buildings, and the usual advertisements. You see ads on buildings, billboards, public transportation, and… wait a minute… a school bus? Yes a school bus. As schools loose funding, they are now looking for new ways to get money, and ads on their school bus is their new innovative technique. Jefferson County School from Colorado already has a contract with First Bank of Colorado worth $500 thousand over 4 years. Of course this has parents concerned, after all aren’t kids targeted by advertiser enough already? But with budget cuts, schools are loosing money for field trips, supplies, and other school related materials. So is this a good idea?

Personally I think it makes no difference as long as the ads are okay for students, for example: ads about school supply, anti-smoking, museums, etc. I rode a school bus from middle school to high school, and I had little interest on what was on the side of the the yellow bus. I also know for a fact that plenty of students ride on public buses which have all kinds of advertisement. As I mention, as long as the ads are education/school/ student related, let the schools make some money.

Sony PS3 Ready To Make You Move

As a casual gamer it is only right that I bring this up. Recently Sony revealed its “Wii” like remote for the PS3 called “Move”. It’s very similar to the Wii controller and has the same features as the Wii Remotes, but claims to be better. One major difference is the fact that the PS3 Move controller will require the Playstation Eye camera to fully get interaction going. Title games specifically design for the controller are on the making and will be available son this year. Will this heat up competition for Nintendo’s Wii? Will the Playstation Move Controller catch on? Predictions were made before Sony unveiled this new gizmo that Wii would lose sells simply because it was starting too loose its appeal. Sony’s PS3 and Microsoft’s XBox is already catching up to Nintendo’s #1 spot as top game system sold.

Personally, I think Sony might catch a niche market as they did with their Playstation Eye, but not like Nintendo did. Nintendo already has the “Fan Boys” and the niche market for people  owning or looking to own ”Motion Movement Games”. Sony might catch some costumers, but not like the Wii did. The only possibility the PS3 might get an upper hands simply is if they can bring new, better, and more innovative games to the table than the Wii has to offer, but the only factual way to know is by waiting to see how it does in the market.

From Marcy to the White House, Jay-Z’s Visit.

After being invited several times, but being unable to visit due to his busy schedule, the Brooklyn rapper took time off from his tour while in Washington to drop by the White House. Sean “Jay-Z” Carter was accompanied by Beyonce and Trey Songs.

There have been many other artists in the past that have visited the White House, but as someone who has followed Jay-Z’s career, I find it interesting how far he has gone since the beginning of his career. He was born in the Marcy Projects in Brooklyn; one of the toughest neighborhoods in New York. He started rapping and drug dealing at an early age, he even shot his own brother  in the shoulder at the age of twelve because he caught him stealing his jewelry. If his lyrics hold any truth; trafficking cocaine was a part of his income and living the fast street life was a typical day for him. Of course his rapping career would open doors for him, make him the super star and business mogul he is today.

“Im not a business man. I’m a Business, Man!”, Jay-Z raps in one of his songs which holds apparent truth. Besides music, Sean Carter is very well known for his entrepreneurship. He co-owns The 40/40 Club, NBA team the New Jersey Nets, creator of the clothing line RocaWear, and founder of his new music label RocNation. He is a multi-millionaire who continues to expand his business through new business ventures and music. He has been called one of the most influential men in the world.

From drug dealer to superstar rapper to millionaire mogul. Jay-Z has established himself as more than just a rapper, but almost a figure, a figure that can visit the White House and have an unscheduled meeting with the president. You might have giving him “Reasonable Doubt” but the MC from the projects who had the “Hard Knock” life has come a long way.
